Re: Monday\'s Eclipse

[ QUOTE ]
Since it's annular does this mean it happens at this time each year or is it just once a year but at different times?

[/ QUOTE ]

Annular = ring shaped - i.e. the apparent diameter of the moon is less than that of the sun, so it could never fully obscure it.

Try experimenting with a torch and a couple of mirrors. It won't help with the eclipse, but it might make your next post amusing... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Monday\'s Eclipse

Not got an image of the actual eclipse but the crescent shapes of the sun can be seen in these two (not very good!) pictures I took this morning.

I was surprised at how much the ambient light was affected. It felt quite miserable despite having clear skies. Very odd.

Re: Monday\'s Eclipse

Its brilliantly hot and sunny here. We must be approaching maximum coverage and the air temperature and light levels are both falling dramatically.

Everyone is standing around outside the lab holding up old autorad films. Five years ago such films were everywhere in the lab; now they are hardly used and I had to dig through ancient archives to find any!
