Hello!

I read a lot of glassfiber and carbonfiber parts. Often these articles refer to "honey wax". What do you know about this product. Many people are really convinced of this product and say they use nothing but this.

Sometimes it is really hard to get this honey wax. Ordering from Britain or US is often hard. I checked out ebay international and found some sources in Germany with low international shipping.

Can you recommend these waxes?

Thanks
Pete

Hmmmm...

There are so many products available it's a mine field out there.

There are also as many alternatives to the material sold by dealers.

Hair spay, Kraft tape (silicon coated), most wax based car polishes and many others.

I did use a 'special' PVA based product many years ago when flopping a hull that recommended fitting domestic hose fittings about 3 feet apart, just as well I did even with three hoses connected it was a half day job separating the new mold.

Good luck and fair winds. :)

It's worth noting that the "PVA" used as mould release (polyvinyl alcohol) is not the same "PVA" used as woodglue, plaster sealant, etc (polyvinyl acetate).

PVA mould release dries to a thin plastic film when you brush or sponge it onto the mould, you lay up the part over it, then pouring a little water into the gap between mould and part causes the PVA film to dissolve rapidly into a slippery fluid. The part should then come free.
