YBW thread

I'll monitor both threads, though it doesn't look as though I'll get any answers.

Will have a look for myself and decide if it is worth buying for the amusement of myself and the grandchildren.

I'm working away from home for next few days, so they may be sold out by the time I get back and the decision will have been made for me.

I was working last week, and the only boaty stuff my local had left by Fri aft was 1 boat hook. I wouldn't have considered my local town ( Barrhead ) very boaty, but maybe they didn't take in much.

Is it likely to be any good?

[/ QUOTE ] The secuteurs I bought broke on the first twig I tried to cut. You only get what you are prepared to pay for I'm afraid. The compost bins seem oK though and I am sure the taps and dies will be OK provided I dont start cutting threads on hard materials. The die holder is rubbish but I have a decent one I can use.

Attractive items are usually available in very small numbers and are often sold out within a few minutes of the shop opening. If you want one be there when the doors open or get someone else to get it for you.

after all the posts on Lidl, I popped into a few in Wilts on my travels recently. Most of the boaty stuff is stocked and not selling particularly fast. So if people see stuff they want, I can probably pick it up for them, but postage costs would probably make it a no go, unless they can meet me somewhere for a handover, and are prepared to wait a while.

Flew back from Gatwick today, got back to Barrhead about 17.30. Lidl still had 5 or 6, said they had sold about 5 and no one had brought one back yet.

Anyway I bought one. Rigged it tonight, seemed to take me longer than the full size one. Tested in bath - floats OK. Weighs about 1 kilo - reasonable keel with torpedo ballast unit. The controller has trim tabs so should be possible to set up rudder for weather helm. Foresail and main are winched together so setting up a sail balance might take some time.

BTW - It appears to be made by Delta-Sport, Hamburg

Off to France to work for a week so won't be able to launch for a while.

Alistair - Thanks for the kind offer.

Hi
I picked one up from Lidl but when i tried it it hasn't enough ballast and kept being blown flat (even in a very light breeze). Has anyone got one and resoved this problem?
