This year's Round Britain conspicuous consumption of hydrocarbons jaunt is actually going to go round mainland Britain - no canals, no lorries, salty water all the way. RB12

4.1 hrs to get from Thurso to Edinburgh at 50kts!!! Thats faster than driving there, and a lot more fun! Cant wait to see this up our way. I want to be there on Duncansby head to see them going through the Pentland Firth! I was up there last Sunday and there were 40ft standing waves just off the head, wind on tide!

I like the entry fees - £12.50+vat per horsepower! That would be about £150 for my boat but I might have just a wee bit of difficulty getting inside the cut-off times.

My reckoning has them coming through the Pentland Firth at half flood on a neap tide - an easterly could be interesting.
