hello all

what is the best pay_as_you_go sim card for France? I don't intend to use it much but as I have a works phone for the UK and no option of enabling roaming I may as well get the cheapest available.

Check out gosim international sim. I have used one for years, it' biggest benefit is that it is free to receive both calls and texts whilst abroad. It also has data capability at a price! callas are reasonable too and use a simple call back service. you dial the number and hang up, a few seconds later the phone rings and you are connected with a ringing tone. The number of the phone is +372 which is in Estonia for some strange reason.

If you are using to call French numbers then buy a local SIM card when you get there - very cheap in supermarkets - and put a few euros on it. Unlock your phone first. I did this in Holland last year (phones used more than VHF).

Be VERY careful about using "data roaming". My business phone is through a French provider. my bills are often Eur 800 or more per month... as I roam the world.

Intolerable cost if I had to pay for it.

I believe it is 20p per 100K on the gosim deal. That is 20p to check my email every day which is acceptable, but visit a website noooo way.

Orange sim card is one of the best option.Getting a local sim card is a good idea to avoid roaming charge ,but for using the local sim card you may need to unlock your mobile .Get the unlocking service from an online vendor like UnBBlock.com .After getting your mobile unlocked only you can use it local sim card of France.
