My Samsung S4 has an external aerial connector, (secret), and can be connected to an external antenna, (using a patch cable obtained from Australia). I think the S2 and S3 have similar connectors, and several Mifi units also have this facility, (using a more common connector), so this query should be relevant to quite a few of us.

Is anyone using an external antenna to successfully improve their 3G and 4G reception?

What type, and where from?

Many Thanks

Richard

Yes I do. This year I installed a Huawei E5332 MiFi with one of these http://www.simplesolutions-uk.com/products/antenna-cellular-antenna/pentaband-high-gain-colinear. Has a Stainless bracket & 5m cable. You just need to buy a pigtail to adapt from the SMA male to whatever you have on your MiFi.

I have two of them on my mast now & no problems. My MiFi is on Sfr in the SoF & this has taken it from 1 bar to a full house. I also power my MiFi from a 12v Usb adapter so it's permanently on when we are on the boat. All works very nicely.

You would need to check with them if it is ok for 4G.
