Any suggestions on Internet (mainly email & ideally VoIP) connectivity on the move? The system only needs to function on land, so a semi-mobile solution would be fine.
If feasible I would like to continue using Skype (free VoIP service, brilliant) whilst cruising the Med. However, this system needs more bandwidth than dial-up - I would guess about 64 - 100kbps.
I saw a Turkish site offering a system, but at $1.45 per 130KB it works out too expensive.
Many thanks in advance.

Destiny - there's a lot on this forum already - your choices close to land are really wi-fi or GPRS.

See the recent threads - Vodafone datacard and More GPRS queries.

Wi-fi is available in quite a few places these days - typically marinas. Costs vary hugely - if you go to a restaurant (or McDonalds !), or pub in the UK you can pay up to £6 per hour (dear old BT's rate !).

I expect if you're more specific about areas and what kit you currently have people will help still further.

Does anybody have any information on a satellite based Internet connection system?? (Parabolic antenna)

For myself too, the system only needs to function on land, so a semi-mobile solution would be fine....
