Does anyone know if any of the French pay as you go sim cards allow GPRS/mobile internet access?

Yes they do. We use SFR onboard or the Post Office ashore.

Be warned - the Post Office only use Apples Macs and there are plenty of sites that you will not be able to access - inclding in our case our Internet bank.

Thanks for the info.

Is any special setup required, or is it still "*99#, web, web"?

I found this site helpful for the GPRS details for each network: http://www.access-sys-eu.com/GPRS_Settings.95.0.html#402.

Thanks for that link.

However, looking at the SFR French website it appears that GPRS internet access is not available on pay as you go sim cards.
