Very sad news in the papers about the chap who got knocked overboard by the boom of his yacht, apparantly
he would have been out cold before he hit the water.
The other sad facts are that he was skipper but none of the others on board new how to either use the VHF
or give there position to the coastguard. I suppose because they could'nt work the GPS, it also appears.
they were'nt aware of flares. Also the poor chat was'nt wearing a lift jacket or harness.
Lots of lessons to be learned from this tragic event I fear.
