ah yes, but have you noticed that the fishermen are scared to go out of sight of the entrance, creating a 'ring' of pots waiting to trap anyone who dares enter at night.
Last week we were down to 2 kts and still narrowly missed 2 of them, 1 straight after another. That was with a full moon guiding us in. These pots were between the fairway and the entrance so in obvious transit for all craft entering the harbour.
Lights and radar reflectors I think. I also believe it is high time for safe passage routes to be opened, there are obvious transits from all ports, we all use them. If they could force clear water passage then I don't care how the fishermen mark the pots, as long as I can safely enter a safe haven without fear of being caught by a grut big prop anchor.
As for pulling up the pots, we caught a 20mm line off Padstow and it was bar tight to the bottom in 175ft of water, or somewhere near. I had no option but to hacksaw through the rope to free us. Had the weather been worse it would definitely have been a mayday, as it was I could work from the dinghy to cut the line.
Agree about the Pwllheli markers though, generally much better than the rest of Tremadog Bay, I wonder why?
