Mnemonics for Colregs and other bits.

The one that has kept my career the most incident-free is definitely;

If in doubt
Bottle out!

Sorry! (And not to be confused with;

When in danger or in doubt
Run around and scream and shout)

...or the variant 'if both red and green be seen, in perfect safety go between'...

Any more advice along the lines of 'try the famous echo in the (old) reading room of the British Library' but relating to boats? Such as 'always cross the cockpit of your neighbour's boat when going ashore and as a courtesy pop your head below with a cheery hello'.
