I bought a boat with a fixed VHF, 2 handhelds and AIS. The VHF MMSI matches the information on the OFFCOM licence and SSR, however, the AIS has a different MMSI which it transmits with the correct boat name. Am I correct in assuming all radios and AIS should be on the same MMSI? I so I can then worry about how to change the McMurdo AIS.

In the UK, the MMSI number is set at initial install and can only be changed by a dealer. It's very easy to alter the boat name etc using ProAIS or other free software.

The handheld radios will only have an MMSI number if they have DSC.

Yes, both the AIS and fixed vhf should have the same MMSI . As others have said, if the handhelds have DSC and you are based in the UK, then they must both have their own licence and separate MMSI numbers.

Handhelds should have their own mmsi as they can be used on other boats and covered by a portable licence, fixed vhf and ais should have the same mmsi and match the licence for the boat.
Depends on if you want to use them on another boat or if you want to use them abroad. The UK Ship's Portable Licence is not an ITU licence so isn't legal outside of UK waters.

If you PM me the MMSI you want to change I'll send you a code to do it.
Hi Dr Spock, I have finally managed to get the software from McMurdo and can connect to the AIS via wifi. Now ready to change the MMSI. Can you send me the code / instructions how to do this please.
Thanks
Adam
