mmmmm It\'s starting early

I got the old "You're not going to the boat this week end unless you do some gardening" speech today. The boat is not even back in the water yet!!!!

Unless of course that is her way of saying "If you would so kind as to do some gardening, I'll not bug you during the sailing season".

Lets hope it's the latter.

I was out the back today trying to get some brownie points into the bank for the summer.

However it appears that the brownie points do not have a long shelf life......

Ah, such memories. I made the mistake of saying to my lady - "OK I will give you an hour in the garden this afternoon". She' now my ex lady.....Que sera

Gardening turns me off completely. Only once did I plant a vegetable garden. I was out every day measuring to see how much the carrots had grown in 24 hrs. How sad is that? Then I decided that sailing was infinitely more interesting, and despite being slow, things happened a lot quicker that in the garden.

Re: mmmmm It\'s starting early

The careful scouring of suitable available property brought me to this house which I would not swap. I have a laid driveway covering from the boundary on the left to within 8 feet of the right boundary. A patch of grass and some self sustaining shrubs occupy the rest of the front. The back garden is 35 feet total from the back of the house, but I have a 15ft x12ft workshop and a 16ft x 14ft patio. Patch of self sustaining shrubs leaves a small area of grass probably no more than 20ft x 10ft. In 2001, when I unsubscribed the last wife (and I do mean last!) I decided not to water the garden. Ever. This has resulted in stuff that wants to be there, and nothing else. I therefore declare that this is a yachtsmans garden, requiring a maximum effort of about 10 minutes per week, or every other week, if it has been raining.
Lynn and I are blissfully happy divvying up the cooking and household chores, as she gets relief from 50% of what she used to do on her own (her ex or kids didn't help out), and I have a similar 50% unburdening as I don't do it all on my own anymore.
We use the time saved to go and enjoy ourselves.
Some of you out there may think I am a lucky git. You would be right. And the joy of knowing that the Brownie system is an unnecessary overhead in our house gives me grin ache.

Re: mmmmm It\'s starting early

Day one of my sailing course, Ken (HOBO Yachting) told us straight, "There is only one captain of this ship and I am the captain. If you don't like it get off this ship right now."

I believe that running a household is similar. There can only be one captain. So be a man and put your foot down!

Day two
The only two left in the crew were the captain and the ships cat.

As to the rest - You must be very, very, very, seriously, rich.
Or unmarried.
