I am Derrick and I am new to this forum - in fact a real greenhorn to the boating world so please be gentle with me.
I have bought my 1st. boat this month and am trying to get it all sorted for the next season ( or even the winter if all goes well) so I suspect I may be picking a few brains over the coming weeks.

I have bought for my 1st boat a Sunspot 15 that was recommended to learn on , and it lives in Minehead ( in the club car park until I can find a trailer for it or a permanent berth).

Unfortunately the government and banks dissolved my pension fund so my early retirement was "bu****ed", so no not at Southampton.
I am not going out in the near future until I have been shown the "ropes" as I am aware of the pitfalls in this channel.

Another Newbie

Me too, more or less. I've been hovering around the forum for a little while, made the occasional posting, only upset one person so far (I think). This is the first time I've scrolled down far enough to discover the Bristol Channel section.

I'm not quite as far forward as Derrick. Still waiting to buy the boat. I put a provisional offer on one yesterday and now waiting to hear back. If that doesn't work out, there are a couple of other possibilities to follow up so one way or another I hope to be a boat owner within the next month or two.

My intention is to keep the boat at Portishead, so depending on which boat we buy and where it is, one of the first tasks will be to bring it to its new home.

And, yes, I am another rag and stick man. If God didn't mean us to go sailing, why did he create wind?

Sunspot 15 is a great boat similar to a Leisure 17 if I remember right. Good Luck for your first sail.
