I just received the email below from Stour Sailing Club. I know it collides with the MOB excercise weekend, but as many boats as possible would be great. I am unfortunately stuck in Sweden so can not attend myself.
The following has been sent to all 200 clubs in the region,
Jim Ensom (Club Secretary):
The owners of Mistley Quay on the upper reaches of the River Stour in
Essex
are blocking access to the quay and the town beyond from the water. They
are
fencing off the quay so that yachtsmen cannot land.
Ever since yachting started to become popular, Mistley has been a
popular
high-tide watering hole, and still is. The boating community would like
it
to remain open.
You can help by attending the rally, the details of which on a poster
(follow this link to download a poster
http://www.stoursailingclub.co.uk/Mistley%20Quay%20Poster.jpg ) or by
writing to the owners,
Trent Wharfage,
Old Shipyard,
Gainsborough,
Lincs.
DN20 1NQ,
registering your abhorrence at this decision.
For more details and a fuller review of case see the regional website,
ryaeast.org http://www.ryaeast.org and the forthcoming September
issue of RYA East News.
