If anyone is lucky enough to find a 3m Rib tender and 3hp Mariner washed up between Hinckley and Watchet they may want to contact me as a good reward will be available. I had it ripped of the Davits during a bitch of a crossing from Penarth to Watchet on Saturday afternoon, I notified the coastguard as soon as it was noticed missing, problem now is that I am going to have to go back to swimming ashore ! and get a rear view mirror.

I was going to post a sarcastic reply but that is a really bad loss. I lost the same years ago and even took the plane up to locate it. Still missing.

It is a bad loss a really bloody expensive one too, but at the time we arrived inside Watchet harbour safe and sound the losing of the tender seemed insignificant. just as well I kept my crappy old Bombard tender and oars!

I cant be more accurate as I dont know exactly when it was lost , however I spoke with a guy from a boat that followed us across from Cardiff when we got into Watchet, and he said that it was lost 3 to 4 mile up the coast from watchet but the conditions were too poor to consider retreiving it or going back out, especially when the crew is your wife and young son

You did the wise thing,Not worth risking someone going overboard or getting the painter round the prop in bad conditions trying to recover it ,doubtfull that you would have found it very easilly anyway.

It would be worth contacting the police in the county you think it may have washed up in.There are honest people about ,what was the wind direction at the time?

Actually while on your travels keep a look out for the one i lost , it was a very faded tabur dory with 'havn't a clew' on the sides.
