Here we go again with another British Summer. Leaden skies, cold, showers. Groung-Hog day. SWMBO said out loud what I was thinking at the time - good job we didn't buy another boat.

The usage so far this year would perhaps have been one weekend. I've no idea how you Solent chaps are getting on so far this year? Better than N Wales perhaps?

Ah well, I'm down in Port Leucate in two weeks time, so I'll go poke around the yards there for a few hours, see what turns up.

Can't speak for the Solent chaps but we've done about 28 hours in North Wales in the last 6 weekends, and the boat didn't move at all over one weekend cos I was cleaning it :). We've overnighted at anchor 3 weekends.

Do you know what? I think your probably about right on the weather front...... BUT I really couldn't give a damn. I love my boating, it's gets me away from work and gives me proper family time. Yes good weather is ace, but I'll quite happily take the rain too!!

I'm not exactly the Solent either - based in Poole - but since getting back in the water on 15th March I've been out 9 times and racked up 27 hours - I don't think the weather's been too bad at all considering its not really summer yet.

Yer problem in Portmadog, is theres nearly no place to go. We used to bum off to Ireland, as not many other options, except a day sail. But then you cant mostly get back. WE used to manage off a mobile phone built like a brick for work stuff, then climb up a hill. Loads of places round Ireland to go.

Oh dear,

Well boats in some way can be just as addictive as smoking, once you stop you crave for that fix for quite some time, you can either get over it or inevitably start again.

I would think because you are hanging around here and boatyards the inevitable will happen, you will at some point buy another, we will all be happy when you do so.

So lets not kid ourselves where you would prefer to be, rain or not, have a great weekend.

We've been out at least every other weekend since we got the boat in Feb, and have had reasonable weather most of the time. The weekend of the 10th April which was excellent, sunny and warm with little wind, a few weekdays in mid-April which were nice, a fab weekend late April over in Cherbourg sunbathing and this last weekend which was lovely in Yarmouth Fri/Sat. This weekend is also looking good, Fri and Sat in particular.
