Mirabella V report is out and Johnno was to blame.

"The Master did not take into account all the information available to him preceding the incident, including weather forecasts, so that the decision to weigh anchor and move to Villefranche was taken too late." is one of the conclusions.

WOW!! Fascinating reading...even for a Mobo'er. I have no experience of boats anywhere near that size but by reading the report, sounds like the 'Master' mis-judged a number of situations, which, because of deteriorating condirions, became critical.
Apart from the number of 'seemingly' bad decisions in the chain of events, why didn't he drop his second bow-hook the moment she started dragging the main anchor? ....or is this a stupid question due to my lack of knowlege on 'big ship anchorage'?

Compulsory confessional

Good grief yes. Come to that thank heavens (or possibly the RYA) that the requirement to report every last mishap for small craft has been dropped. It would have made the airwaves like a permanent reading from the confessional page on YM.
