Minor Incidents/Accidents......Help.

First aid kit also is quite sizable, its started off with something resembling one of these;

I like that one - looks like a paramedic!

It seems to contain little but bandages and dressings, though. If you have a problem other than an open wound, it's not going to help much - the only non-wound-related items are a couple of face-condoms for mouth to mouth, a couple of space blankets (on a cabin boat you presumably have warm clothing and bedding to hand anyway), some burn dressings (fair enough), and a pair of kitchen scissors.

Thankfully, large open wounds are not a significant feature of sailing for me. Neither are other medical complaints, touch wood, but it seems at least as likely that I might need something for
- seasickness
- sunburn
- sprains and strains
- muscle pain
- pain generally (headaches etc)
- a cold (ok, not on a day trip, but on a week's cruise someone might come down with one)
- stomach upset, diarrhea, etc
- filling pulled out on a toffee
- insect bites and stings
- something in the eye

Like Firefly, I've added quite a bit to the original core of an MCA Cat C first aid kit. And on a boat, I find waterproof plastic food containers better than a cloth bag.

I didn't look at the contents of that one - but I did some of the others and as you say the bigger they are the more bandages they seem to contain which does seem a little strange. I suppose looking at your list pain killers etc are "bathroom cupboard" items as opposed to actual first aid and i suspect most of us have that type of stuff on board.

I would have thought the first aid kit would have been a bit more imaginative!

If the “you “ ^ means me then yes I can - they are PoM - Prescription only Medicine - normally .
