Minoan Lines has cancelled a long booked trip for friends of ours to Corfu

Copied and translated from a German Forum but lifted from Twitter:

Schedule change in Minoan Lines

by the ever-rising fuel costs forced Minoan Lines following measures to minimize the costs and losses to be taken:
Setting of the Venice route from 04/01/2012:
Except for the runs with the Olympic Palace during the period from 15.06. - 9/15/2012, all departures from 1 April 2012 on the route Venice-set!

Alternatives for the affected customers:
-Transfer to Ancona route, the customer will receive 10% discount on his new book, to cover the higher cost of gasoline and tolls, plus free meals on board.
Free-cancellation and full refund.

On the Minoan site I can find no info. But there are no bookings possible from Venice.

Ship Operations

CRETE-based ferry operator Minoan Lines has remained deep in the red despite an impressive increase in traffic on its core Greece-Italy service.

I have heard (tis only rumour) that Endevour line have halved Their sailings from Italy this year, and sold one of their boats, may be another one to keep an eye on.

ferry to greece

I write this on the P&O ferry to Calais where we drive to Ancona to catch the Tuesday ferry. We booked in January with car and cabin but could not get Venice dates so took Ancona.
Last week "Direct Ferries UK" mailed us to say the times have changed and we needed to get there earlier.
We have therefore lost our paid for hotel rooms and booked different ones.
Hopefully the ship will sail to Greece.
