I've got a new mooring and need to store a tender nearby to get to the boat. I have an old Suzumar 2.7m rib which I will be using, but it is far to heavy to carry to the waters edge from the dinghy compound.

I know you can get fold up wheels for the transom, but that still means a fair nose weight to haul around. I was think the best thing would be a small dolly that you could strap relatively centrally. I imagine something that is H shaped when looking from above or V shaped when looking from the front. Something similar to what they use on Dart catamarans like in the image:

Does anyone know of one, or where I could get parts to build one myself, or whether I need to get one made by a trailer manufacturer?

I transport a very heavy 10ft Avon across a beach, using a dolly.

Make a box c2ft * 2ft * 1 1/2ft deep. Drill a hole near the bottom and put through a mild steel axle. Attach two wheels from the Caravan shop. The top of the box can be contoured to fit the dinghy.

The final thing will look like an old style milk bottle crate with wheels. Attach a painter to it.

Lift the nose of the boat and push the crate under with your foot, as far as it will go. Let down the nose and the boat will be balanced nicely, give or take. Off you go. As the boat is balanced you need little effort and your trolly can be stored on the boat or ashore.

Buy a sack truck and add some padding such as plumbing insulating tube.Put the dingy on the cart with the hook/load carrier against the transom and the body of the cart running up under the boat.
Take the dingy painter and secure it to the sack truck handle.
I modified the sack truck and added a pair of pneumatic tyres sold for carts and jockey wheels(you can get ones with pneumatic tyres.
Only yesterday I used it to great effect when the tide was "very" out and pulled the dinghy across a wet beach and through about 5 inches of mud to reach the water!
(my wife is still cursing me for the mess I made of my shoes!)
My truck is one that folds in half.
Readily available from the likes of tool station;screwfix et al.

Thanks. I've got an old beer bottle crate and reckon I could do just what you describe. Need to think of a way to drill a sensible hole through all the bottle separators though.
