Hi Adam, thanks for the post. We may well come and visit on July 20th, by car as we are unable to sit on the sand/mud!

Will seem odd being there without our boat :-)

Well done Adam , about time we started having some sort of organised support for our harbour instead of the usual WSDC shambles.
Also suggest you join this forum to defend against the Minehead harbour knockers.

What harbour? When I last called some years ago, it was little more than an old wall with very restricted shelter almost no facilities and local small fishing boats clogging up what there was. Has it changed? If not then £18 per day for a 10m yacht is extortion - should be virtually free.

Out of curiosity, how much are Combe and Porlock nowadays? Both are much better harbours than Minehead

Ive spent many happy days leaning on the wall in Minehead and many happy evenings in the Ship aground.

Shelter is fine unless theres any east in the wind when you do get swell in there which can cause you to bang the bottom as you dry out.

Good Luck to the new harbour master I hope you have a successfull (busy )summer and we plan to visit again this year.

Ps you are normally requested to keep the wall by the steps clear but on an ebb tide that was as far as I could get in then moved up when the tide returned.

Well said Graham sailing is not all about showers and posh facilities. Unfortunately the Ship Aground has gone tits up now so it is a little bleak at that end of town so it is a bit of a walk to find the pubs etc.
If my memory has not totally failed me I think we had a pint together a few years ago , I was with Norman a real old character here, he taught me the basics of sailing that I needed to start me off.
