Mine is set a 0,5 metres as I do mostly inland sailing, and the alarm would wouldn't stop beeping anymore. Out in the open I would set if for 1,5 metres I'd say.

Arno

PS. That's below keel obviously...

I regularly change mine according to the nature of the seabed I'm sailing over. Sometimes it could be 5m or more under the keel. More frequently, it's less. Just now, it's 1.5m under the keel

Neil, you Wuss

set at 1.8m, drawing 1.05m. Of course with the keel down I draw 2.1m, so I have to know when I am being naughty. But then thats part of watching the wave patterns on the East Coast innit? Cross the Sunk Tower at LWS? Only on a high speed tea tray mate!

I don't normally bother but recently set it at 0.5m, however for some reason it did not recognise the 0. and would go off every time there was a .5 i.e. 1.5, 2.5 3.5 etc. The first time this occured was a little diconcerting as I had just taken my seat in the heads.

I've turned it off and now rely on the feel of the keel cutting a V through the Thames mud instead.
