Plenty of alternative places to bale out to though if the weather gets grumpy from the wrong direction. Big cosy marina just round the corner, but parking for free almost on the doorstep of an expensive boat parking emporium gives me a warm feeling. Must be Scottish blood!
Head the other way from the marina and stop for free in Kilchattan Bay which has better protection from a South-Westerly.
There are usually moorings available and the holding is reasonable
Headed into Kilchatten Bay the other week with the wind blowning offshore. Didn't bother dropping the hook as the stench of manure (cows) from the farm was unbearable--it really was bad
Yes they are but far better to anchor off the harbour, a much closer row ashore.....p.s. by the way that is my work mate YY driving the Cumbrae Voragers rib!!! in you foto.
12 moorings in one trot with one marker buoy. Owned and maintained by North Ayrshire Council - they are all free, blue and marked "Visitors Only 15 Tonnes Max". They should be laid in time for the Easter holidays and are usually lifted late October.
As reported to BlueMoment by N. Ayrshire Council last month.
