mikuni heater

has anyone had problems with mikuni heaters, I baught mine for the last boat and it gave out after 5 / 6 months. it was sent back under the waranty, but by the time it was returned, I had sold the boat, 3 years later I fit it in my new boat an it gives up after 3 months, £60 for a repair, and its still not working, no reply from mikuni the repair enginer seem to have given up on it, should I just dump it

I've not had any problems with mine the past three years. On the whole they seem pretty good. I guess there are always exceptions. Given the price of these things surely it must be worth one more effort at fixing providing you can find someone competant. The chap who renewed my safety cert this year seems to have a side line repairing heaters and he reckoned they were all straightforward enough once you knew what to look for (ho ho).
