Having tried to fix the heater myself, by putting in a new glow plug, the fuse blew again.

Took the whole thing to Mikuni Heating in Southampton, who decoked and serviced it. Havent reinstalled it yet, but have to say that Steve and his glamourous assistant were extremely helpful and obviously know their stuff.

Full marks for good customer service. Forumite david2452 is a bloody good bloke, too - just in the wrong part of the country for me :)

So now we can be sure the cold winter and spring are behind us, and we wont be needing the heater for quite a while !
