Mike Martin\'s imminent redundancy

In my working career I've been made redundant twice. Lucky for me that each time this turned into a "cloud with a silver lining" as I moved on to pastures new so:

I, for one, wish Mike all the best in whatever he intends to do on his departure from OfCom (their loss).

Mike; if you'd care to identify a specific time (UTC) on a specific date then I'll raise a glass to your future (and I'm sure other forumites will as well).

What are you going to do? Can you tell us?

Re: Mike Martin\'s imminent redundancy

You really don't need to do this, in fact I'm not really very good at it. Preferring to creep out under cover of darkness.

People keep phoning wishing me well, which, when I think back to when I took this job is rather hard to comprehend.

My plan at present is to take a break. There has been a lot going on in my personal life recently as well so I'm just going to catch my breath and see where the tide takes me next.

Thank you,

Mike

Here at Icom he will be greatly missed.

It has been my pleasure to know him since I have been here.
He has been unlucky enough to have to work with me in both the Marine and the Avionics markets.
His knowledge and enthusiasm is second to none in both markets.

Oh by the way its his fault I am here on the forum! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He has become a great friend to me and my family.
Well my daugther thinks he is mad!
Mind you she thinks I am too.
I am proud to be able to count him as a close freind.

The very best of luck to you Mike where ever this takes you.
I hope, as do many others, that you stay in the marine industry.
You are one of those "famous boat show faces".

I will also raise a glass or two to you on Friday.
I will be in Dublin but it would be so rude not to!

Once again all the very best "mate".

Regards

Re: Mike Martin\'s imminent redundancy

Sorry to hear about the job. Their loss, and unfortunately ours as well. Your department has always dealt with me quickly, efficiently and fairly. Communications (including here) have always been good.

Not many regulators want to face their public as closely as you have, probably for good reason in their cases...
