Just back from a late season week upriver and cannot believe how many times we felt we had paid good money for something less than satisfactory food and/or service.
Brickbats for The Market-Marlow, The Ferry-Cookham, Cafe Rouge-Henley, The George-Eton and The Great House at Sonning (but only cos they tried to overcharge me £8 for the drinks and they've done it before as well).
Bouquets to the Runnymede Hotel's Charlie Bells which is consistently good and Macdonalds in Windsor cos I got exactly what I expected.
Best meal of the week was Ham Eggs and Chips at The Fifield Inn pub which that nice Mr Gates from MDL introduced us to.

Totally agree about the Ferry @ Cookham /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif, same applies to St George & Dragon at Wargrave which is part of the same chain - must be part of their "Mission Statement" to be up their own backsides.

Oh, the George and Dragon at Wargrave used to be quite nice but they've destroyed it in the last refurbishment. Incredible prices for pleasant but ordinary food, I thought so we won't be going back.
