I have inherrited a handheld Micro sx90 VHF set when my boat was purchased. The set works fine and is more than adequate for my "cruising" intentions. My only worry is that the battary capacity may let me down if I lose track of its use between charges. Carefull stewardship of use should avert this however there is an external power jack. The charger connects also through this point and the charger has a 12v 200mA out put.

My question is - Can I rig up a lead straight from my 12v on board and jack this straight in to the power port with a suitable connector (maplins do all the jacks). Or does anyone have any experience of the old micro range and may have the correct lead knocking around in a dark corner?

any input welcomed....

many thanks

Don't see a problem provided you can limit the voltage to 12v and the current to 200ma - would not want to fry the batteries inside the radio.
