I just wanted to say how pleased I am with the Metz Manta VHF aerial that I ordered from Salty John.
I've got a nice one piece feeder cable (RG8X) back to my Standard Horizon GX2100E VHF and I'm regularly receiving Cross Corsen from Falmouth Marina as well as Brixham coastguard clear as a bell (Falmouth Coastguard doesn't count, I could probably receive them with a screwdriver in the back of the set).
This is performance that is WAY beyond what I expected so I thought I'd come and tell everyone.
Salty John's service was good too, quick delivery and well packaged.

I would also mention that I believe the feeder cable plays a large part in this setup. Having checked the signal loss per metre of the lesser coax's and compared it to the RG8X, there is no doubt in my mind that it's worth paying for. No point in having a good aerial and then wasting the signal away in rubbish cable or vice versa.

No connection to Metz or SJ, just someone who is genuinely impressed - something that doesn't happen to me very often :-)

+2 For Salty John's Metz Manta and RG8X cable, bought for a AIS pushpit mounted aerial
and used with a SH 300i Plotter, after having many post replies about suitable AIS aerial question posed on this site.

Location Torbay , behind and under Berry Head, quite often get vessels come up on screen off Plymouth and T.S.S lanes Mid Channel, while playing on the mooring.

Must try it for V H F range, with it on pulpit?

Very impressed with kit, and John's helpfulness on the phone.
