Having recently been made redundant but luckily found new employment. I have wisely spent some of my redundancy money on a gamin 182 gpsmap plotter and bluechart cartridge. The unit works perfect, except that when set to nautical units, the depths are in meters but drying hights are in feet?
Sods law says that sooner or later I am going to find myself aground on the said drying hights? I contacted gamin about this and said they were amazed no one had noticed it before. They have told me to wait for an update on their web site and down load a modified program. This seems a bit risky to me as the blue charts are expensive and I don’t what to overwrite anything? Has anybody out there done this before? I wonder if any of the sailing press have noticed this anomaly as they have been testing gpsmap units recently?

Re: METRES&FEET

Phil,
This sounds like a serious programme error well spotted, in the mean time I expect you will have to revert to the lead and line.
Ps Glad you managed to find employment but hope this will not distract from your sailing.
All the best Trevor.

I have down loaded a firmware update for a garmin 128 last year, it realy is no problem., just follow the instructions, but like you I was worried.
