Our last home base used to provide the Blue Metermaid gadgets to monitor our electrical usage over the winter. I have been advised by Kip that we have to buy our own or sign up for a standing charge of £50.00 per month if I wish to keep the boat heated over the winter.

After speaking to some other berth holders it is clear that the meter is a much cheaper option. While searching the web I came upon an array of different prices. Does anyone have an idea of the best place to buy such a device?

Thanks in advance.

fleabay is usually a good source, but currently they only have new ones on offer at £130 !!!

Gumtree or preloved ? I bought one for £35 fromGumtree abut three yrs ago. Works fine.

If you take one into most marinas, they might want to check that its calibration is in harmony with their own, as it has been known for naughty people to modify the rate at which the little numbers turn round.

An alternative which the marina might approve is to use a caravan hookup electric meter. e.g.

Kept on board, with its IP65 it should be fine.
