Hi all,
Quick query - checked the shorepower meter reading today and noticed it was the same as last week even though the heater has definitely been on. So I plugged the kettle in which draws nearly 2kw, usually the meter had a red flashing light which would show when anything power heavy would be used but no light illuminated today and meter reading didnt move.

Have told the marina who will now put a test meter on to confirm the problem.

Meter is around 18months old and the total reading is relatively low, less than 400 units on it.

Anything I can do to get it recording again or is it a new meter?

Is it your meter ifso be careful how they charge you if it was theirs should you have told them so soon could have been a warm winter

It's my meter which I bought from the marina for £100+

Had a Metermaid previously which had a very rough life and never missed a unit (is that a good thing?)

I guess the marina would have noticed it when they took readings weekly anyway, mentioned it quickly as I dont want the supply to either trip with a faulty meter or be disconnected from the socket!

Dont really want to pay out another £100+ for another new meter!

Just had the same problem with my meter failing, The electrcity is still running heaters ETC but not being recorded, I have no idea when mine stopped working as never check . Boat is pluged in all the time in the rack.
Have informed the marina and they have sent away for checking. I am hoping they will just change meter as do not need to replace the 10 meters of cable as well

Have exactly the same problem hence the 'Wanted Ad', marina phoned to say it hadn't recorded for the past 2 years so estimated bill:nonchalance:

Sounds like its a bit more common than expected then. Chatting to someone at the Marina today and their Metermaid failed at 500 units, just over 12 months old! Having a quick glance at the bollard today it seems that the majority have Rolec Leadmasters, one was showing over 9,000 units. Our current Metermaid is around a meter long so hangs out of the bollard and the shorepower lead then connects to it on the bollard. Have seen a Rolec Leadmaster which is one length of 25 meters with no connections which looks good as I have previously found somebody else plugged into our meter!

Ironically our electric bill is usually less than £10 per quarter anyway!

Mine has also failed at 499 units but that's four years old. Seems to be a problem with these meters. I know mine has been sent away for checking . I shall be refering the marina manager to this thread.
