Not sure if this should be in lounge - or if it is too boaty for there /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyway, a crew from Waterford visited the Royal Welsh last night & during general conversation I was "outed" as Searush. It turns out one of the crew members was Cormac a Corribee sailor from Dunvargan. It's great to bump into people & find out who is behind a "name" on here. The yacht was a Sadler fin keeler & should be in Portmadog on this evening's tide, so do keep an eye out if you are in Mad Dog tonight. As usual with the Irish, they are great company!

We were sitting in the rain in Lymington (as you do) when that very nice man who goes by the pseudonym of "bajansailor" popped his head in to say hello, and we had a nice cup of tea and a natter. My wife remarked that he was so unlike some of my "funny" friends I have introduced her to. Present company excepted, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, I don't have a burgee but anyone who sees Evadne is welcome on board for a drink or a cup of tea, depending on the hour (no alcohol consumption between the hours of 08:00 and 08:02). And there aren't many boats called "Evadne" so you'd have to be terribly unlucky to be get it wrong .....

I would probably get it wrong by arriving at 08:00 and have to be away by 08:02 to catch a train or something! That's assuming I could find your boat. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Well, if you're in Portland, at the Olympic marina on the weekend of 18th/19th I'll stand you a beer or three!! (EOA owner's meet)

Re: :) :) :)

An excellent description. I spotted the reason for that flooding last night & resolved to take a couple of cable ties in to sort it tonight!

Anyway, what can you expect of an 800 year old clubhouse? Edward 1's idea of sanitation was to pee (etc) thro' a hole in the wall. Even the Romans (1000 years earlier) had worked out how to flush pee & poo away.

That Barbican gateway in the town wall is designed to face the summer sunset (which it does beautifully) and it is called the Golden Gate (Porth yr Aur) in consequence. The Yanks just copied the name.

With luck, it's fixed now. I spotted the problem the other night & was thinking of fixing it anyway, but your comment about it always being there fired me up - so it's bloody done now!

That's the trouble with clubs, unless someone is "responsible" for stuff, no-one does it! Proper sailors would never walk past a loose rope without coiling it up!
