After the kerfuffel last year everything has gone ominously quiet. Is it still in a state of chaos or has the ownership / operator issues been sorted out? I like the place (town) but was there in spring two years ago and did not like the people or the way they operated. Has all changed?

I asked the same question several months ago and didn't get any replies.

We haven't had any problems with the marina. This is my second year hauling out there. We don't spend much time there though so maybe it wears on people who do.

I've received two short e-mails this winter updating me on what is happening there. One contained a photo of Palarran as a courtesy. I'm going to have them do a full buff and wax on my hulls this spring and feel confident they will do a good job. They also quoted me for next year and the price is still very good so I'll sign up for a third year.

It may be the case that you are not getting any replys because most of the live aboard who use to stay the winter are so fed up with the marina that they have moved away .
this is only my option but if it wasn't for the live aboard , the winter we stayed there , a lot of people who left there boat in the water would had come back and found plenty of damage , the staff where 100% not interested in the boats although
I understand there have been some changes now , and about time too .

We spent a week there in October watching all the boats being lifted out and found everyone happy and content at the service they were getting. Security has been beefed up and the laying up cradles look well made and effective. The days of outrageous antics by certain people seem to be a thing of the past. I had a long conversation with one of the staff who related how much better things are for the staff as well since a certain person got "on his bike". We are seriously considering moving there from our berth in Corfu which we have held for nine years now.

A few, more probable, reasons:-

1. Most liveaboards @ Messolonghi, not being native English speakers don't bother with this site.
2. Everyone is so satisfied that they see no reason to write any mis-spelt rants.

No !! NO ! don`t come any closer......:)

I received this today:

March 2014 Messolonghi Marina News letter 02

Marina chandlery now officially opened

The marina chandlery has now officially opened.
All products for yacht maintenance can be supplied. Products that are not in stock can normally be delivered within 24 hours.
Dimitris Zevas and Vangelis Vasileiou are welcoming you, also for technical advice and assistance.

i have to say that after spending 3 nights there in September the staff could not have been more helpful. I returned 2 weeks later (on way back to Ionian) for an over-nighter to get free water and electricity as a 'thank you'. I also watched the staff hauling boats and it all appeared to be professionally done.

Vangelis is Mata's husband - quite a reasonable engineer. The trouble still is that the marina want their 35% out of everyone who works on a boat in the marina.
Fair enough when they're contacting and doing the control.
I just cycle into town and contract the work there.
There are two other chandlers in town...

I have a new update on the marina. My son, Nick, has been there for two days and said the place is really humming along and the staff have been great. They are buffing and waxing my hulls and they look great. Gregory has been really helpful with answering any questions Nick has. Vangelis is going to help him with a few mechanical repairs and the marine store is stocked and the staff is helpful. They are getting me a new propeller for my dinghy at a cost similar to what it would be here in the States. I may need a new house battery bank so we'll see how the price compares.

All in all, according to Nick, it's a totally different and really good experience this year. Now, hopefully they can still launch on our scheduled date :) Then they will be perfect.
