Much excitement as just under 5 weeks since I was a boat owner my new Merry Fisher 695 Marlin will be delivered to Neyland in Pembrokeshire on Wednesday. We'll have a handover and then she'll be mine.

She is currently on the trailer at Cambrian Boats, Swansea having had a brief PDI trip last Friday.

Apparently everything worked and nothing leaked - two admiral qualities in a boat, I feel.

The Lowrance chart plotter and VHF have been installed:

And the 150 Yamaha has been bolted on the transom:

I loaded gear on her on Saturday and added the name:

So the next thread will be more water based, I hope.

The whole experience has been a pleasure so far thanks to the approach of Robin at Cambrian Boats, who has been great throughout.

The whole Merry Fisher concept is spot on, superb boats and you can choose the whole configuration to suit your boating style. Smart boats all round.

Very nice. I like the position of the VHF above the plotter. Mine has the "dock" for the iPhone/iPod there which I think is a waste of a good space. When I fit a fixed VHF I'll move the dock and set it up like yours.

Have fun on Wednesday. :)

Very nice indeed! I agree about the position of your VHF. Mine is positioned about knee height, bottom left of the wheel. Being 6' tall means I have to crouch to check/change channels, whoever decided to put it there must have been very short.

Good luck on Wednesday. Exciting times!!!

Thanks, all of you.

There are still a few bits on back order with Jeanneau so we'll have to rough it and sit on the un-cushioned seats up forward for a few weeks until these arrive and Cambrian come and fit them.

Obviously she's not on the scale of most forumites boats and we've not had an extensive extras and mods list to go through but she'll suit my time and budget just fine, and give access to a particularly exciting bit of the UK coast that I am new to and am exploring.

More pictures to come when she is afloat!

Congratulations! - The shape looks like she means the biz :) ... reminds me of a go-anywhere Botnia Targa.

As to "not on the scale of most forumites boats": there are a lot of smaller boat owners on here, and many of the larger boats are old!

I do lust after a Botnia Targa!

Since 2004 when I joined the forum my boats have got smaller but newer. Oh, and faster. And I'm beginning to get used to buying polish at the chandlers rather than filler.

Rang Cambrian Boats this morning to check departure time - she was already en route!

Set off for Pembrokeshire and soon found traffic on the A48 backed up behind this:

Followed for a bit but got bored so stopped for fuel and dealt with some emails. Caught up with her just outside Pembroke and she was soon being lifted off at Dale Sailing. The tide was low so it was a bit of a drop down to the water:

Headed off - found the steering rather heavy but it appears the fluid was low (not sure why that wasn't picked up on PDI) and there was no chart in the chartplotter - which makes it a plotter, I suppose.

Back at Neyland I dropped off the delivery guy and admired the boat:

The sun was shining so I went for a spin - had her up to 24 knots without trying and was impressed with the acceleration and handling although the conditions were pretty benign.

Sorry no wake shots as I was single handed but here are a couple when running at slow speed.

Back on the pontoon put up the very heavy cockpit table - thought it was going to be a flimsy plastic affair!

Happy to have her in her new home and looking forward to some decent weather and days out now.

Looks great and you can't beat that new boat feel (and smell). I'd have been a bit worried at the height of the launch, bet you were glad when she was safely in the drink.
I'm in Scotland and like you find the wheelhouse fantastic. Certainly increases greatly the enjoyable number of days you can have on the water. Enjoy.

I never realised how many sunny days there were until I bought a boat with a wheelhouse :D
