Hi looking to fit snap davits to the swim platform of our MF805 and having looked on the net discovered there are various kits some offering 2"/4" extensions, can anybody tell me if the standard kit without such extensions is suitable ? Also can you swing the dinghy beyond 90`to secure it at an angle to the transom ? I have phoned a couple of places but the experts are at the boat show this week. Thanks, Gordon

Snap Davits

Hi Gordon,
I had Weaver Snap davits on our 805, they worked perfectly, we added two cleats to the transom and just fastened the dinghy via these. The angle of the dinghy was sufficient to keep the inside dry under most conditions. Not a cheap system but very well made and long lasting. This was 10 years ago and I can't recall the supplier but i'm sure a web search will find them.

I have Weavers on my Sealine 285; they're really good. I see you are in Ayrshire as am I. You're welcome to have a look and see if similar would work for the 805.

I don't mean to hi-jack your post but since there is two 805 owners on, how do you access your water heater to drain it down ? With out taking all floor up and seats out ?
Hi have used winterban due to this.
Cheers

Racingfrank7, last year was our first year of boating after 15 years of motorhomes and we did what we used to do with them over the winter. We simply turned the hot/cold taps on and pumped the water out. Don`t know if that is the correct method but it worked for us in freezing Scotland. I am open to correction as we are new to boating and if we got it wrong I apologise.

That's a bit like us had boats for 10 years then motor homes and caravans for 15 now money allows for both so even better!!
Apparently not, due to a empty water tank there's no pressure to push the water out of the heater tank.
At 1st we did the same run out and leave taps open, but when I filled with winterban it took ages and loads of water to come through before winter ban got through, so all that water most have been sat in the lines and califire until all ready to freeze !
But I was hoping somebody with a 805 could fill me in / tell me the secret to draining it !!

Racingfrank7, just read your post about draining and I should have said we left our boat in the water over winter as we wanted to use it on the odd occasion, cheers
