Help required please. I have a 705 with a standard horizon plotter with the Airmar P79 shoot thru hull fitted. The unit is ok for depth but will not give any fish marks and little clarity on the ground.
I have now purchased a B&G display together with radar and now intend fitting a transducer to use the sounder that’s incorporated in it. My question is what type of transducer do I go for, I’ve contacted various dealers and all have come up with different answers. Do I go for another shoot thru hull type or drill a hole and fit an in hull one. One company even suggested a skimmer transom mount. I don’t want to start drilling holes if there is no need but I would like to achieve a better image than I have at present.
I would also like to know where is the best place to fit the transducer depending on type as I cannot find anything in the handbook and the dealers are all pretty vague as most have not had dealings with Merry Fisher in boards.
Hoping someone will know for either the 705 or 695 as I understand both were the same hulls.
