The US history proves that they for many years have been very BIG.
Later years also in Europe.

The only reason diesel engines make any sense at all in the UK is because of red diesel.
With the amount of hours that most boats do a year, a couple of outboards hanging off the back would be a much cheaper ownership prospect.
