Mercury Sailpower kill cord

You need to remove the fitted “stop” button, measure its size, and then replace it with a kill switch that’ll fit the hole. They all work the same way: a normally open push switch that shorts the ignition circuit when pressed/has the kill cord removed. There’s lots of options available in eBay such as these https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=outboard+kill+switch .

Hi folks,
I've just bought a second hand Mercury Sailpower 4hp OB, think it's probably late 80s. I need to find a kill cord for it but they seem to come in may hues. Can anyone point me to the right one to fit?

Cheers,
Cx

If its an 87 or later model the kill cord and switch for a 1990 onwards model should fit ( If its an 86 model I dont know)
Your Mercury dealer should be able to supply one

You can find the year from the serial number and also find an owners manual at the Brunswick Marine in EMEA download center http://download.brunswick-marine.com/download/preparesearch;jsessionid=ds906qmljl4re?lang=EN&mod=4

Are you sure you want to to fit a kill cord to sailing boat engine
