I will be at the meet this weekend, but to date I've only met 3 other forum members. I'm just wondering what to expect - do all you guys know each other well?

nah, a few people know a few other people (and hence try to avoid them!).

Having met 3 other forum members is quite a good haul. It wil still take an hour or two for you to get round everyone else and think "cripes i had no idea he/she was such a fat git/baldgit/balduglygit/baldolduglygit etc etc" but they are all quite nice people really. Much nicer than me anyway.

Erm, anyway, then all too soon it is time to go bed. Last year it was because the poxy cheap tent was not anchored down properly and started whizzing round and round and round.

Ooh Barry , I hope you know what you are doing . I've met some of them and that is why I've arranged to be out of the country this weekend.

I mean, how do I put this- apart from Me ( and obviously you ) everyone on internet forums are a bunch of crazy psychos. There is however one thing that differentiates this particular group and that they all seem to have in common and that is an unhealthy interest in the eveil drink - given that this event includes the Sabbath , I'm not sure 'you-know-who' would approve.

Additionally , if you have wife/partner/daughters , keep a very CLOSE eye on them . Some of those folks are of dubious repute- and that's just the females.

Apart from these sins , most of them have an unhealthy interest in enjoying themselves and actually laughing and smiling - just not on for us good Amish boys.

In other words , I for one am disappppointed that I can not be there - I hope everyone has a great time. I'm Sure YOU will!

they are the same people you see week in and week out on the water, helming, crewing and otherwise partaking in boating. However, where they differ is that they smile, joke (badly) have with a healthy dose of torrerance and are generally able to start a conversation that is not wholly aimed at stating that 'they have a bigger/faster/more seaworthy' craft than you - simply because they have already done that to death over the years on the forum!

Two's company - three plus must be a forum meet!
