Mercury/Mariner 3.3 carb probs

I have occasional problems with flooding on my 3.3 Mariner. for no particular reason the float valve seems to jam open leaving petrol dripping rapidly from the carb. of course it won't start and stripping the carb reveals nothing wrong. sometimes the problem goes away, other times it persists.

i also met the same problem on soeone else's mercury 3.3 so suspect it may be a common problem. has anyone else had this problem and is there a quick fix?

Give it the REDEX / tune up additive treatment occassionally, and ensure you run off the 2 - stroke mix before putting the engine away between visits to the boat.

Had the same all the time on my 2.2, the solution was to run the fuel out before putting it away.
Not had a problem since.
