Not sure if it’s even of interest to most of you and realising that perhaps most on here may be focused with perhaps larger and more glamorous boats than mine, but I eventually took the plunge and invested in an enertia prop for my boat. My goodness...what a prop
Perhaps some may remember my forever and perhaps rediculous quest for prop slip, efficiency and dynamics perfection. After many many and perhaps embarrassing amount of propeller experiments, I’ve settled on the little known enertia prop.
My goodness what a freak prop.
Won’t bore you too much on it and I’m well aware that props aren’t a one stop shop in the general quest for result. As many will know...a complete dark art and one prop considered good will enevitably give different results on each and every boat. That said and for those that are interested...some results.
Boat
Campion Chase performance edition (1 of 15 ever made)
Engine
Merc V8 MPI with fuelling, cam and corsa marine upgrade from factory
Drive
Stressed Alpha 1 @1.47-1 ratio
Hp
Estimated at min 300hp, perhaps more with upgrades and headers.
Props tried
Quicksilver 17”p hit limiter at approx 5200rpm and maybe late 50’s gps (no exact data recorded due to total unsuitability after first run)
Laser 2 21”
63 mph gps at approx >4850 rpm
Laser 2 19”
60 mph gps at limiter and not 100% verified.
Ballistic 19” semi cleaver
60/61 at approx >5100rpm (occasionally limiting )and worth noting not a consistent performer. Performed best when air under hull and prop surfacing.
Enertia 21” (slight imperfection on leading edges)
66.9 mph GPs at 5170 rpm (vessel view smart craft verified and on verge of occasional limiter in certain conditions)

A complete freak of a prop showing uncharacteristic properties. At cruising rpm it will show higher than normal 21” laser 2 rpm but a little less speed and perhaps efficiency. (Conditions changeable), bit at wot the enertia will lift the boat much higher out the water almost to the point of being dangerous like a ring or phantom.
I’m aware that the wot rpm achieved this evening were in perhaps perfect conditions with a little chop under the hull and the step working to its optimum...and slightly above the rated 5000rpm max recommended. I didn’t expect the prop to reach these rpm considering other 21” and 19” Props tried.
Perhaps a result of the X7 alloy make up and thinner blades in comparison to a stainless prop.
Anyway. Enough bore for now, but can seriously recommend this prop for high power and lightweight applications that are capable of running high in the water.
Worth noting...not the enertia eco. But the proper enertia performance prop.
Cheers.

Yeah. Tell me about it. That’s why it took me so long to take the plunge. Think the cheapest for my set up in UK is almost £600.
Doesn’t seem a lot of difference at a glance, but at these speeds just one or two mph gains are considered mega,
Never mind more.
Any tiny gains in mph over the 60mph mark usually aren’t achieved by anything short of raw power in huge amounts. My boat has an estimated just about or over 300hp but to get to the magic 70mph would likely take another 100hp.

I changed to an Enertia prop on my previous boat which had a Z drive, it was a totally different boat after the change , you could not even compare the difference. Best way for me to describe it is that it gave the bite of a 4blade prop combined with the efficiency of a 3 blade prop. I would totally buy it again if ever I get a boat that can use it.

I've just fitted a 15" enertia to my boat which has a 200 verado The original prop was a Reveloution 4 blade 17" but max revs at WOT was only 5250. Rev range for a verado is 5800 to 6400 so some way off.

The enertia grips as well as the rev 4 and as it's a lower pitch acceleration is even better. Top speed unchanged but trimmed out I now approach 5750 which is just about acceptable.

I'll do more sea trials to obtain fuel flow/revs/speed.

On first calculations prop slip is in the 20% range but I need to do another set of trials to confirm.

Price wise I got lucky, "only" £430 delivered!!!

Hi hot property. That emerita you have sounds like an enertia eco model. Bit of a different bag if so and would explain the lower price.
The enertia performance prop is an incredible thing as said above. Almost defies the normal logic of most props being the X7 alloy. Amazing thing and worth every penny.

Hi Qbhoy, no it's the proper Enertia, not the eco. As I said I got lucky as I've seen them at up to £770 at various suppliers....

Impressive result indeed. :encouragement:
Out of curiosity, how much does the boat weigh?

Hi mapism

She is a fairly hefty 1360kgs apparently. Heavy for an 18foot North American boat anyway. Not the usual cheap rubbish I suppose. Kevlar in the hull etc. Stepped with a flat running pad like the big boys have.
