Any one ideas on how much fuel a 80Hp Mercury will use pushing a 16ft fast fisher with planing hull? How reliable are the new Mercs (approx 1yr old) 4 stroke?

Very reliable, very clean, easy to service and about 4gph going fast, 3 if you are more kind to it. Depends on weight of boat.

We have a Mercury 115 EFI 1st comissioned March 2008
Last bank holiday Saturday it would not rev above 2,300 rpm - turned out to be the idle rev limiter chip, that stops you over-reving in neutral.
No bank holiday boating for us - pretty poor for a 17 month old engine IMO.

Sorry Dave, we are talking 80 4 stroke here? I do not believe an 80 on full chat will only use 4gph, I would say over 30 litres per hour at least, add 25% if its an old stroker IMHO.
