Hi gang.

Been to commission a mates outboard tonight... long storey, bit of a mess, but...

Got it running fine, but it doesn't turn off on the key, nor on the run switch. so need to check the wiring.

On my other motors the wiring is marked on the box, this one isn't...

can anyone tell me what wire (colour) needs to be earther to stop the thing??

cheers.

steve.

It's black with a yellow trace stripe. Earth that wire to stop the motor. An easy way to find the wire is trace from the mercury (the liquid metal, not the engine brand!) switch which you'll see is a small tube say 30mm long and 10mm dia, mounted about 45degrees, aft stbd side I think but not sure on that engine. The mercury metal (liquid) connects the black/yellow wire to earth when the engine kicks up to about 45degrees; it's kinda a crude safety feature

Loverly job.

Thanks.

This is an old motor, so hopefully i can find the can of liquid.

If not, i'm going to guess that the wire colour will be the same.

Thanks again.
