Mercury 4hp 2 stroke outboard questions.

This outboard comes with built on generator to charge a battery etc.

1. Can the outboard be run o.k. without connecting it to a battery or will it damage something?

2. Is it feasible to run this long shaft engine on an inflatable that normally takes a short shaft engine?

1. No problems but insulate the DC output wiring if its not a socket with detachable connecting cable
   
   
2. The problems of grounding etc are obvious.
   It may tend to try to lift the bow esp if its a small round tail.
   Just possible that the increased back pressure on the exhaust could make starting difficult ....... not convinced though!
