Require technical guidance re Mercury Outboard engine problem.

Engine is 3 years old, serviced annually, total engine hours run since new is approx 80 Max.

Yesterday on passage back to my moorings at about 3500 Revs I noticed that the engine was missing on one cylinder. I reduced revs to 1500 and eventually made my mooring ok with engine still missing on one cylinder.

Quick examination of two spark plugs revealed both dry no sign of oil, the 3rd spark plug was unable to remove because of limited space and difficulty of access with spark plug spanner. I will endeavour today to remove the 3rd spark plug and inspect it as I now have a compact plug spanner which should be able to get access.

When I took off the engine casing on arrival at my mooring I noticed a strong
electrical smell which appeared to come from the coil pack area .Was unable to identify which actual coil pack the smell was coming from.

Is there an easy way to identify which coil pack may have gone u/s ?

I suppose really I should replace all the spark plugs as a safety measure ? had a fault recently on my Vauxhall Astra which involved a defective coil pack and the Service Engineers recommended that I replace the spark plug associated with the defective coil pack just in case the spark plug was causing the fault.

Any information/techincal know how to accurately discern this fault would be most gratefuly received

Thank You
