I bought a secondhand one of these and it has been serviced. It doesn't seem to have an obvious water flow? Is it mixed in with the exhaust on these units or should it 'piddle' from head unit somewhere? It seems to run fine but l noticed no obvious signs of water coming out.......

The main cooling water flow leaves underwater with the exhaust but , I belive it should also have a tell tale to indicate that the pump is working..

The telltale may simply be blocked

I suggest you refer to the owners manual which you can download from the Brunswick Marine in EMEA download center if you have mislaid your copy.

I think the tell tale hole is small, try poking heavy fishing line or similar up it. You may be able to remove the hose from the fitting under the covers which may be better access for getting into the water passage.

The piddle pipe is rubber and comes out under the petrol tap. On my motor, you occasionally have to give a quick blow up the pipe to re-start piddling.

I was once gifted a little used but neglected 2.2. It had no water flow. The water channel around the cylinder seemed very small and prone to clogging by corrosion products. This required removal of the cylinder head to allow scraping of this channel. Also the pump cavity appeared to be moulded directly in the light-alloy leg. The LA tended to corrode and the resultant rough surface gave the rubber impeller a hard time .I think that I read that later examples had a stainless steel lining fitted to avoid this.
I found the cooling flow always unreliable, perhaps my fault because I didn't use the motor very much.
