You don´t actually say what year the boat is, but you should be able to find the fuel filter on the end of the fuel line. It maybe hidden behind a flat plastic cover that you have to slide off. Once you have found it, you unscrew it (will need a filter wrench to untighten), being careful not to spill any petrol that is in it, and then screw a new one back on (put some engine oil on the seal of the new filter first). All of this is in the manual that comes with the engine, or get the full workshop manual.
That´s it - just try not to spill the petrol and clean up any that you do spill.
thanks guys but mine seems to be a solid metal casing (I think it it something to do with fuel pressure pump)
I have taken a pic
its a 2005 BTW and I have the manual but it does not describe my setup
Go to the "download center" at the link I gave you. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Select English and Operation and Maintenance manual from the first two lists if not already shown
Drop down the list where it says "ALL" and select "2005"
Drop down the list again and select "Gasoline"
And again and select "Inboard"
Then click on "Launch"
Click the Adobe icon for the first one on that list. then "open"
When it has opened go to page 63. I think you'll find your type of filter described with full instructions for changing the element! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Maybe that was not exactly the right manual for your engine ...... you have not told us the number .. if yours is one of the others listed check that and save it for future reference. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Glad you found it in the end. Shame the links to the Volvo and Mercruiser download centres aren't on a sticky on the forum. Would help out quite a few people I think.
