Evening all,
Just thinking about moving up in the world, currently running doral 250 with 5.7 petrol vp, and am interested in a boat with twin mercruiser / unbadged, md706mh230... 230 hp, would like a rough estimate on consumption, pushing a six ton sportcruiser.....................

Also in the pictures it looks really tight in the engine bay, just a couple of inches between bulkhead and close all round, problems servicing etc? engines reliable?
ps boat on outdrives............

All comments welcome

Nick

Why unbadged? If automotive exchange blocks, who did the refit? Are they fresh water cooled (closed system)? What year model? If not FWC, there are a few things to consider.

I guess by 230 HP, you mean 5.0 litre, carbed?

Fuel consumption will depend on how hard you want to lean on the red levers, but if you stay close to 3000 rpm's I imagine around 80 odd LPH (pushing 6 tonnes)

With black motors in dark engine bays and pics taken on funny angles, maybe the distance from bulkhead isn't as bad as they appear.
Access to starter motors will prove arkward with twin V8's.

When engine assessments on older mercruisers are done out here, the techy will not sign off unless the manifolds are removed for inspection.

mercruisers,

Sorry, 5 year old diesel.................

Unbadged, ie supplied by original engine makers in italy before being badged up by mercruiser,

thanks
